OKC BALLET'S
2014-15 SEASON WITH
WORLD PREMIERE
Oklahoma City Ballet is set to open its
2014-2015 season of performances with the World Premiere of Jacob Sparso’s "Cinderella" at the Civic Center Music
Hall October 17-19. Single tickets start
at $25 and are now available through OKC Ballet and Civic Center Box Offices.
"Cinderella" uses Prokofiev's incredible score originally
commissioned by the Bolshio Ballet who premiered it in 1945. The Oklahoma City Philharmonic will be led by
guest conductor Kermit Poling. The
elaborate sets and costumes were designed by British designer Alun Jones. Additionally, Artistic Director Robert Mills
will be making a rare stage appearance as one of the Ugly Stepsisters, along
with principal dancers Yui Sato and Ronnie Underwood who will also be
alternating the role of Stepsister. The
role of Cinderella will be alternated by Principal Dancer Miki Kawamura and
Soloist Ezlimar Dortolina, and the prince will be danced alternately by
Principal Dancers Yui Sato and Ronnie Underwood.
Performances
take place on Friday, October 17 at 8 pm, Saturday, October 18 at 2 pm & 8
pm, and Sunday, October 19 at 2 pm.
Single tickets to “Cinderella” and season tickets may be purchased by
calling 405-848-TOES (8637) or by going online at www.okcballet.com. All performances take place at the Civic
Center Music Hall, 201 North Walker, Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma City Ballet Box Office is open
Monday through Friday from 9:00 am-5:00 pm, and is located at 7421 North
Classen, Oklahoma City.
Children’s
activities prior to each performance include a “make your own magical pumpkin
and fairy wand” station sponsored by Oklahoma Contemporary. After each matinee, the audience is invited
to meet and greet the dancers in the front lobby for refreshments, courtesy of
Braum’s.

Russe dancers Yvonne Chouteau and Miguel Terekhov, Oklahoma City Ballet has
been the city’s professional ballet Company for over 40 years. It is the
resident dance Company of the Civic Center Music Hall and currently boasts 31
dancers from around the world. Led by Artistic Director Robert Mills, the
Company produces 4 main stage productions per season in Oklahoma City and tours
across Oklahoma and the surrounding states.
It is the only ballet Company of its size to regularly debut world
premiere story ballets with original commissioned scores and also commission’s
new works from the industry’s leading choreographers.
