The
University of Oklahoma School of Art and Art History along with the
Visual Art Student Association invite you to the annual VASA Art Auction
on
Friday, Nov. 21 from 6-9 p.m. in the Lightwell Gallery at the School of Art and Art History, 520 Parrington Oval. The event is free and open to the public.
The
Visual Art Student Association is a registered OU student organization
with a mission to support students in expanding their creative
experience through fine art related
trips, speakers and events that facilitate interaction with creative
people. The VASA Art Auction is an annual event organized by its members
that invites School of Art and Art History students and faculty to
donate their artwork for a public auction, which
will benefit the organization. The auction offers guests a chance to
bid on original artworks. Opening bids will range from $1 to $5.
Available works range from small-scale drawings, prints, and ceramic
pieces to larger scale paintings and mixed media items.
“This
event gives students a chance to showcase their artwork within a
broader scale, while also allowing the public a chance to purchase
student
and faculty work,” said VASA president Shane Jensen. “It is the hope of
VASA to promote the arts at the University and within the local
community. The auction also promotes the individual talents of the OU
School of Art & Art History students and faculty that
donate.”
The
event is free to attend and open to the public. Visitors will have an
opportunity to view the exhibition from 6-6:30 p.m. and auction will
begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
All proceeds from the auction benefit the Visual Arts Student
Association (VASA).
