PASEO ARTS
FESTIVAL
HAPPENS
RAIN OR SHINE
(OR GREMLINS)
The Paseo Arts District’s 39th annual Paseo Arts Festival will take place May 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. and May 25 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Visitors will enjoy 86
visual artists, who will fill the Historic Paseo Arts District with
original artwork: everything from painting, ceramics and photography to
woodworking, sculpture and jewelry.
The Festival is also
famous for its dozens of musicians and live performers. New this year is
the addition of a third stage. Lovers of the culinary arts rejoice! The
food court will feature 12 food vendors with traditional and
not-so-traditional festival treats, both savory and sweet. Think gyros,
Asian food, decadent desserts and great beers from Mustang Brewery in
the new Mustang Brewery Beer Garden. The children's area allows future
artists to explore the arts and have fun while creating.
Shudder at the thought of parking? Why not shuttle
instead? The Paseo Express, a shuttle bus, will run every 15 minutes to
the parking lot at First Christian Church at NW 36th and
Walker, making it beyond easy to park and ride. Shuttle hours are 10
a.m. – 9 p.m. May 23 and 24 and from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. May 25.
The Paseo Arts Festival
draws more than 60,000 people who come to enjoy the sights, sounds, and
tastes of this annual Oklahoma City tradition. It is also the Paseo Arts
Association’s largest fundraiser, enabling the Association to offer
arts events in the Paseo year-round.
Paseo, Oklahoma City’s historic arts district is OKC’s unique arts
destination. Dozens of galleries, restaurants and shops stand in
distinctive Spanish Mission Revival style buildings, all within walking
distance. The Paseo Arts District is located between Northwest 30th and 27th Streets and Walker and Hudson.

PERPETUAL MOTION'S
FAULT LINE
MESMERIZING
Fault Line, performed Saturday night, by Perpetual Motion Dance to a full house, was a
mesmerizing work of a mature modern and aerial dance company.
The performance long work was a deeply involving combination of modern and aerial dance, the
films of K. Edward Van Osdol, and the electronic music led off by a Kandling Ray selection.
The aerial work included single and double harnesses, a horizontal ladder, and the silks, as
the company continues to find more ways to work with and break from gravity.
The choreographers were director Michelle Moeller, Stephanie Crosby, Kayla Jenkins, Kim Kieffer,
Amy Nevius, Katie Noble, Summer Peppler and artist in residence Amy Querin of Fresno Dance
Collective.
As Moeller pointed out, the company was awarded a Mid-America Alliance grant for its creation,
one of only three in Oklahoma.
The final performance is at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, May 17th at the Contemporary Arts
Center.

Perpetual
Motion Dance is currently creating an original concert of modern and
aerial dance entitled Fault Line in collaboration with filmmaker Kyle
Van Odsol that will feature the company's signature blend of stunning
visuals and technical ingenuity. The concert will take place May
15th-16th 8:00pm and May 17th 2:00pm at the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts
Center. Fault Line will explore the metaphor of seismic shifts by
creating an eight by eight foot wall of boxes that will be deconstructed
into multiple platforms. Kyle Van Osdol will integrate 3-D projection
mapping onto these platforms, reflecting the seismic activity occurring
below our feet. Aerial apparatuses such as a horizontal ladder and
harnesses will lift the performance off the ground and into the air. The
choreography for Fault Line will be created by director Michelle
Moeller, company choreographers Stephanie Crosby, Kayla Jenkins, and Amy
Nevius and artist in residence Amy Querin of Fresno Dance Collective.
