On Tuesday, September 22, 2015, Oklahoma City’s Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble will
present its first concert of our 2015-16 season, “From Beethoven to the Beatles,” featuring some of the most popular
compositions of the 19th and 20th centuries. Eight Brightmusic musicians will perform a
little jazz, a little rock and a lot of great music, including one of
Beethoven’s most successful works, his Septet in E-flat major for strings,
winds and horn.
The works on the program include: 1) Rossini’s Duo for Cello and Double Bass in
C Major; 2) Glazunov’s Reverie Orientale for clarinet and string quartet; 3)
Svante Henryson’s “Backcountry Skiing” for jazz clarinet and cello; 4) selections
from Sean Osborn’s “The Beatles” for clarinet and string quartet; and 5) Beethoven’s
Septet in E-flat major (Op. 20), for violin, viola, cello, double bass,
clarinet, bassoon and horn.
Brightmusic musicians performing are: Gregory Lee and Katrin
Stamatis (violin), Mark Neumann (viola), Jonathan Ruck (cello), George Speed
(double bass), Chad Burrow (clarinet), Rodney Ackmann (bassoon) and Kate
Pritchett (horn).
The performance will take place at 7:30 pm on Tuesday,
September 22 at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 127 NW 7th Street (at
Robinson). Individual concert admission
is $20 per ticket. Students and active-duty
military personnel are admitted free with ID.
