Like the original Nutcracker, the Hip Hop Nutcracker follows the journey of a young man who seeks to find something missing from his life, only to discover that “it” already exists within himself. However, the Hip Hop Nutcracker's high-energy music and dance styles incorporate many more twists and turns than the traditional Nutcrackers. The take away for the audience is a message of perseverance, family and holiday spirit. Students at Capitol Hill High School, John Marshall High School, Northwest Classen High School, Oklahoma Centennial Mid-High School, Putnam City North High School and U.S. Grant High School auditioned for the Hip Hop Nutcracker in September. Members of RACE Dance meet with the students once-to-twice a week leading up to the show, teaching them the choreography, and fundamentals of hip-hop and contemporary dance. Join us on December 11, 12 or 13 to watch RACE Dance Company and the high school students take the stage!
