OKCMOA HAS A
FREE DAY SUNDAY,
MAY 6, INSPIRED BY
THE SPECIAL EXHIBITION
"THE NEW ART: A
MILESTONE COLLECTION
FIFTY YEARS LATER"

SONIC Free Family Day, where everyone is welcome, returns to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 6. Inspired by the special exhibition, "The New Art: A Milestone Collection Fifty Years Later," the event will feature kindie rock band the Sugar Free Allstars; a collaborative art project inspired by the work of Josef Albers; a monoprint make-and-take activity and more activities throughout the galleries. It's all made possible by SONIC, America's Drive-In.

"'The New Art' highlights one of the Museum's most incredible collections," said Tracy Truels, director of learning and engagement. "The theme 'Shape, Color, Pop!' honors the legacy of this collection with activities and performances inspired by the bright, colorful art in the exhibition. The whole family will enjoy dancing with children's duo Spaghetti Eddie, reading along during Super-Sized Storytime with the Metropolitan Library System and sketching in the galleries. Parking is free on Sundays, so this can be a completely free outing for the whole family. I encourage everyone to visit."
Free admission to the Museum includes the exhibitions, "The New Art," "Apichatpong Weerasethakul: The Serenity of Madness," "The Art of Oklahoma" and "Dale Chihuly: Magic & Light."
"SONIC is committed to supporting the arts in Oklahoma City," said Christi Woodworth, vice president of public relations for SONIC. "Not only is admission free, but the activities and performances throughout the day encourage all visitors to engage and participate. We are thrilled that thousands of Oklahoma City residents and visitors have taken advantage of this wonderful opportunity."
