Choregus is a not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to present outstanding performing arts that would otherwise not appear on Tulsa stages, including multi-cultural presentations, avant-garde music, cutting-edge drama, and modern dance and to engage the community with the visiting artists via educational outreach opportunities.

Our educational/outreach efforts were recognized in 2012 when we were chosen as the recipient of the Oklahoma Governor's Arts in Education Award. Through our participation in the Arts and Humanities Council's Any Given Child Tulsa initiative, 4000 Tulsa Public School 4th Graders attended a Choregus dance performance during our 2013-2014 season.

We continue to expand our educational and outreach activities related to most visiting artists this season with nine educational performances, six master classes, and additional workshops and in-school experiences.

Nine Sinatra Songs

Classical ballet has used the music popular to its time since its beginnings in the Italian and French courts of the 15th and 16th centuries. In this exciting and eclectic mixed bill of three different works, we prove the art of ballet is much more than tutus, tiaras and Tchaikovsky.

Play
(Oklahoma Premiere)
The music of techno giant Moby takes center stage with the ingenious choreography of Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch in Play. Inspired by the crowded streets of urban life, the dancers in Play march, slide, scoot, and accelerate their motion with cinematic sweep.

Dear Miss Cline
(Oklahoma Premiere)
We first introduced San Francisco choreographer Amy Seiwert to you in 2009 when she created her world premiere ballet Finding/Almost on the company.  Ms. Seiwert’s brilliant work returns as the company premieres Dear Miss Cline, an endearing ballet using the music of country superstar Patsy Cline originally choreographed for Smuin Ballet.

Nine Sinatra Songs
(Company Premiere)
Iconic choreographer Twyla Tharp (Broadway’s Movin’ Out) choreographed Nine Sinatra Songs in 1982 to the incredible voice and timeless songs of Frank Sinatra.  A mix of ballet, modern dance, and ballroom, Nine Sinatra Songs’ popularity is evidenced by the companies that dance it around the world.

(Dangerous Liaisons) by Christopher Hampton
February 6-28 2015
This Weekend:
Friday, Feb 13 @ 8
Saturday, Feb 14 @ 8
Sunday, Feb 15 @ 8
Sexual intrigue and daring sword-fights, this 18th century novel turned heads with its scandalous expose of upper crust debauchery.  Join us this Valentine's season for a special night of sinfully naughty fun!  The play, a sexy drama, is adapted from the 1782 novel of the same title by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. The plot focuses on the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, rivals who use sex as a weapon of humiliation and degradation, all the while enjoying their cruel games. Beautiful period costumes, sexy intrigue...need we say more?  This play is rated 'R' for violence, sexual situations and nudity.
