January...
In brief: Full Circle Saturday, January 7th. Bohemian Cafe Saturday, January 21st.  UCO Sunday, January 22nd. Super Special Surprise Event Friday, January 27th.  Sisters of Swing at Saint Charles, Saturday, January 28th.

And an episode of crass commercialism...
Miss Brown to You has some really exciting things coming up is 2017, the details of which I am not able to disclose as yet, but I can tell you this:  we are planning a CD project for the fall.  We've been fortunate to never have to resort to crowd-funding, and we have some seed money in place, but to raise some more capital we are proposing this novel fundraising technique: if you want to support our next album, why not purchase one of our already-made CDs?  You can purchase online from MissBrowntoYou.com  : you can also listen to the tracks on Apple Music, Rhapsody or CD Baby.  We'll also have plenty of CDs on hand at shows.

There is some native Winter Holiday coming up, at which it's customary to give gifts.  I'm just sayin'.

OCU PRESENTS
BROADWAY STYLE DANCE
EXTRAVANGANZA:
"Home for the Holidays"

Oklahoma City University’s world-renowned American Spirit Dance Company will celebrate Christmas through tap, jazz, ballet and musical theater dance as the annual Home for the Holidays Christmas show returns to the Kirkpatrick Auditorium stage Dec. 8 to 11.
Nearly 125 dancers, under the direction of OCU award-winning Dance Chair Jo Rowan, will perform longtime audience favorites and a wide array of new numbers.
The show opens with a high-energy office party celebration of the beginning of the holiday season followed by a humorous commentary on the remoteness of relationships caused by an overuse of electronic devices. It then moves to a tap celebration of Christmas in Hawaii before snow and ice skating cool things off.
Several dances tap into the longing for friends and relatives who are far away during the holiday season and the emotions caused by separation due to varying circumstances.
OCU is known for many graduates and former students who have enjoyed careers as Rockettes.  Many began their careers with the annual favorite “Santa Kickline.”  A new “Jingle Bells Kickline” has been added to this year’s show.  Other annual favorites are “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers,” a precision tap number, and “March of the Toy Soldiers,” a tour de force by male dancers.
The show concludes with a Nativity and a joyful celebration of the meaning of Christmas with well wishes for all.
“Home for the Holidays is a fast-moving, beautiful and entertaining show with something for everyone,” Rowan said.
Home for the Holidays is recommended for ages 6 and up. Show times are 8 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9, 2 and 8 p.m. Dec. 10 and 2 p.m. Dec. 11.
Tickets are $29 each and can be purchased by calling 405-208-5227 or visiting okcu.edu/tickets.  Group rates offering substantial savings are available for churches, schools, independent living centers and similar organizations.

FREE FAMILY DAY AT OKC
MUSEUM OF ART --
MANUSCRIPT ILLUMINATION
AND SACRED WRITINGS

SONIC Free Family Day: The Art of the Book at OKCMOA
Everyone's invited to the Museum on Nov. 13
Inspired by the special exhibition, "Sacred Words: The Saint John's Bible and the Art of Illumination," SONIC Free Family Day on Nov. 13 will feature demonstrations by "The Saint John's Bible" artist calligrapher Diane von Arx. SONIC Free Family Day is a bi-annual event with art activities, story time and films. Free admission and all activities for the event, taking place from noon to 5 p.m., are made possible by SONIC, America's Drive-In. The Oklahoma City Museum of Art is located at
415 Couch Drive.
"We are thrilled to have one of 'The Saint John's Bible' artists joining us for this fall's family day," said Tracy Truels, director of learning and engagement. "Visitors can see her art in 'Sacred Words' and watch her demonstrate the art of calligraphy in Founders Hall. We hope that getting a behind the scenes peek into the calligraphy process will help visitors see the artwork on view in a new and exciting way."
In April, SONIC Free Family Day drew over 3,200 visitors to the Museum. At this fall's family day, families can practice designing illuminated letters, sketch in the galleries, see demonstrations by Diane von Arx and enjoy story time with Metro Public Library. Both adults and children will enjoy the film "The Secret of Kells," a children's story featuring illumination, at 1 and 3 p.m. in the Samuel Roberts Noble Theater.
"We are looking forward to another fun-filled SONIC Free Family Day at OKCMOA," said Christi Woodworth, vice president of public relations at Sonic Corp. "Each Family Day is a little different, providing new experiences for visitors both repeat and new to the Museum. The theme this fall, 'The Art of the Book,' provides families with many different opportunities to learn about and engage with illumination and calligraphy."
"Sacred Words" presents the concept, historical context, technical execution and significance of "The Saint John's Bible" and illumination as an art form. "The Saint John's Bible" is the first illuminated, handwritten Bible of monumental size to be commissioned by a Benedictine monastery in the modern era. "Sacred Words" includes 70 selected folios from "The Saint John's Bible" as well as other historical illuminated manuscripts, such as Books of Hours, Qur'an pages and Torah scrolls. This exhibition will be open through Jan. 8, 2017. For more information about the exhibit, go to http://www.okcmoa.com/current-exhibitions/ and follow the link.
