Living Homeless
Photography Show
February 4 - 8
Opening Reception:
February 7 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

The Homeless Alliance and Upward Transitions are partnering with Istvan Gallery to provide the public with a photography exhibit that snapshots the lives of the homeless in Oklahoma City. Different homeless vendors for The Curbside Chronicle magazine partnered with photographers around Oklahoma City to capture these photos including the image above which was a collaboration between homeless photographer Marcos Powell and photographer Shannon Cornman of the Oklahoma Gazette.

These photographers taught the vendors a little bit about the art of photography, while the vendors introduced the photographers to what homelessness looks like on a day-to-day basis. Together, they went around Oklahoma City and captured photos that the vendors wanted to share with the non-homeless community.

The exhibit will run from February 4th-8th at Istvan Gallery, located at 1218 N. Western in Oklahoma City. The opening reception will be held February 7th from 6-8pm at the gallery. The exhibit and reception is free and open to the public.

Everyone is invited to attend the party, where they can meet the vendors who took the pictures and also pick up the newest issue of The Curbside Chronicle. The exhibit includes photography of local shelters, the streets of Oklahoma City, abandoned houses, and tent-communities. The hope is that people can see these photos and gain a better understanding of our local homeless as well as awareness of them in Oklahoma City. We share this city.

For more information about the project, contact Ranya Forgotson, Editor of the Curbside Chronical at ranya@thecurbsidechronicle.org.
